We love to hear wonderful testimonies from our family around the world! Sometimes, it’s challenging to see God amid the pain and chaos of persecution. But our sister in Nepal, Rina, shares how she experiences the presence and love of God even after being rejected by her earthly family. The following is based on an account told to an Open Doors partner:

Rina Lama isn’t my real name, but I am known by God and part of His family. I came to faith because a friend in college prayed for me and was then healed from a chronic illness. After receiving such a powerful sign that the Christian God loved me, I committed my life to Him and left Hinduism, the religion of my family.

After becoming a Christian, I stopped attending Hindu festivals and worshiping Hindu gods and goddesses. This was not well-received by my family. They boycotted me and mentally persecuted me. My father withdrew his financial support and stopped talking to me. It was very hard.

I didn’t know where to turn to complete my college education because I had no money, but the Body of Christ stepped in! Local Open Doors partners came to pray with me and helped with my college fees. It really boosted my faith.

I gained such encouragement from Psalm 23:4 (“Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, You are with me…”) and Isaiah 49:15 (“… I will not forget you”) because I have experienced them. The love I longed for, I have in Jesus Christ. I have healing and joy in my life, and I will never leave Him.

I’m firm in my faith and am doing ministry among women and children in my community. I thank the Lord for allowing me to meet Open Doors partners, and I am thankful for all who came to meet me, help and pray for me. I am encouraged by your kind gestures and your love for persecuted believers. Please continue praying for me and my studies.
